Fieldbot's mission is to create highly profitable and sustainable farming methods that increase productivity, lower costs, mitigate nitrogen leaching and runoff, conserve water and energy, reduce agrochemical usage, eliminate pesticide spray drift, and lessen the environmental impact of row crop agriculture.

UPGRADING THE EQUIPMENT


Irrigation pivots, or simply "pivots", also referred to as center pivot irrigation systems or centre pivot irrigation systems, are large, self-propelled, overhead sprinkler systems used in row crop agriculture that move in a circular pattern around a central pivot point connected to a center-fed pressurized irrigation water source.


Irrigation pivots are capable of (1) irrigation, the practice of applying water to soil and crops, (2) fertigation, the practice of applying nitrogen fertilizer and other nutrients to soil and crops via direct injection into the center-fed pressurized irrigation water source, and (3) chemigation, the practice of applying both chemical and biological crop protection products, also referred to as crop protectants, to soil and crops via direct injection into the center-fed pressurized irrigation water source. Similar mechanized irrigation systems also include linear irrigation systems, or simply "linears", and lateral move irrigation systems, or simply "laterals".


An astounding one-half of the total irrigated row crop acres in the U.S. are under irrigation pivots, the leading form of all agricultural irrigation methods, including drip irrigation and surface flood or gravity-fed irrigation. Moreover, virtually every irrigation pivot in operation today is based almost entirely on the original 1969 system design (U.S. Patent 3,608,826) with very little change from then until now. This one single fact presents a unique opportunity.


Integral to this fifty-year-old system design is the start-stop move operation of the multiple intermediate wheel towers that align and, ultimately, drive the overhead pipe spans in a circular pattern around the field. Each intermediate wheel tower of every irrigation pivot in operation today maintains alignment of the individual tower sections with a simple electromechanical “microswitch” that turns a center drive motor on and off at full torque roughly once per minute in a follow the leader arrangement. The result of this outmoded and abusive drive method is a slow, unreliable, imprecise watering system with limited intelligence and capability.


New Fieldbot PRECISION UPGRADES universally add more reliability, capability, precision, and intelligence to any existing  “start-stop move” irrigation pivot.

The custom and exclusive Fieldbot MOCB (motor optimization controller board) is at the core of all Fieldbot PRECISION UPGRADES.


This next-generation Intelligent Tower™ networked digital technology platform utilizes proprietary hardware and software to maintain synchronous system alignment across the full range of low to ultra-high irrigation pivot speeds. It leverages patented variable-speed motor control performance optimization that requires no operator learning curve or behavioral change.


The Fieldbot MOCB uniquely enables manual remote tower-by-tower drive control and smart diagnostics to identify and alert individual wheel tower "safety out" faults whenever the system unexpectedly shuts down.


In addition, to further improve overall system reliability, the first-of-its-kind Ethernet networked architecture enables real-time machine health monitoring with continuous uploading of electric motor data utilizing Starlink high-speed internet connectivity, all while maintaining critical machine functions with (1) over-the-air programming, (2) remote supervisory control of every Fieldbot MOCB on the network, and (3) onboard GPS for position-based "predictive maintenance" (U.S. Patent 10,384,557) at each wheel tower of every machine.

The Fieldbot MOC with ultra-high-speed electric motor equipment package is a single SKU that is 100% compatible with all brands, makes, and models of irrigation pivots, including all OEM main panel and tower box controls.


This unique one-of-a-kind feature of the new Fieldbot MOC requires absolutely no change to the existing irrigation pivot controls, including the percent timer, overwatering timer, safety microswitch, and industry-standard "start-stop move" microswitch, nor the addition of any costly analog sensors and tower alignment hardware (U.S. Patent 10,130,054, U.S. Patent 10,165,741). The Fieldbot MOC utilizes all existing irrigation pivot OEM main panel and tower box controls, span cables, power wires, control wires, and safety circuits.

UNIVERSALLY REPURPOSING ANY IRRIGATION PIVOT


Fieldbot PRECISION UPGRADES are low-cost, simple-to-use, and easy-to-maintain, while non-invasively interfacing with all brands of mechanical and computerized main panels and remote telemetry systems. Now, with only one component for 2x speed or two components for up to 10x speed, installed onto the base beam, installation time is reduced to a short "one hour per tower". Best of all, all legacy controls remain fully intact, and no unused components ever need to be removed from the field if renting ground or rotating crops.


In addition, Fieldbot PRECISION UPGRADES include two new proprietary safety features at the ground level of each wheel tower:

  1. PWS (pedestrian warning system) for ultra-high-speed operation
  2. Manual power disconnect switch for emergency system shutdown

As part of the end tower Fieldbot MOC and located directly above the crop, Fieldbot  FIELD VISION continually uploads to the cloud, via an on-pivot Starlink dish, high-quality proprietary crop data, captured in real time with high-resolution cameras and multispectral sensors, in a unique "crop data ring" layer.


Included standard with all Fieldbot PRECISION UPGRADES, Fieldbot FIELD VISION enables a new category of Perimeter Intelligence™ acting as a "24/7 crop scout" throughout the entire growing season, providing real-time agronomic insights on crop health, crop area, canopy cover, canopy height, stand count, height and lodging, residual cover, flower cover, and more.


HARVESTING AI TRAINING DATA


Irrigation pivots represent one of the most under-leveraged assets in modern agriculture - and one of the most powerful gateways to artificial intelligence. These massive, all-electric, autonomous machines are uniquely positioned to become the central hubs for harvesting real-world, full-season, high-quality AI training data.


Similar to UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles), ultra-high-speed CONSTANT MOVE irrigation pivots are all-electric UGVs (unmanned ground vehicles), readily repurposed into fleets of giant field robots newly capable of autonomously harvesting AI training data at scale.


Every growing season, vast amounts of proprietary farming knowledge are channeled through fleets of hundreds of thousands of irrigation pivots, continually orbiting above every variety of row crop: how much water, fertilizer, and crop protection products are applied, and when. With emerging technologies, gathering this information can now be automated through a combination of machine telematics and new AI agents that communicate directly with farmers and agronomists on a scale previously unimaginable.


When this crop input application data is precisely correlated with crop health data derived from crop imagery captured at a leaf level by on-pivot, high-resolution cameras and multispectral sensors equipped with GPS, real-time actionable insights are generated for the customer while an entirely new layer of agricultural intelligence emerges.
